Domestic Service Couple
A domestic service couple is a team that works together to serve the same family.
It is common for them to work as live-in staff, residing in the home where they work, or as live-out staff, returning to their own home to sleep after each workday.
The domestic service couple divides household tasks and is responsible for cleaning, cooking, ironing, table service, house maintenance, gardening, pool care, chauffeur services, and caring for children or elderly family members.
They are especially useful in large homes, rural estates, or second residences.
Usual Conditions for a Domestic Service Couple:
Live-in regime:
- The usual working schedule is from Monday to Saturday at midday, as part of their salary is considered to be in kind (accommodation and meals), which extends their normal working hours.
- There must be a minimum rest period of 10 hours between working days.
- In the middle of the working day, they must have a two-hour break.
- They are entitled to one month of paid vacation.
Live-out regime:
- They comply with the agreed number of working hours and sleep in their own homes.
- They are entitled to one month of paid vacation, as they are permanent staff.
